A Quick Trip to Maine.....Post #2

Because I wrote this up on the wrong blog and I was having trouble just
copying & pasting it, I decided to split it into two posts!

Then the fog rolled in and changed everything! I never did catch a glimpse of the lighthouse!

We did some fun hiking around Jordan Pond....in the fog though!

And we found a neat cave where we went exploring...

This is the old original ranger station house that is now a gift shop!

 And finally a family selfie!

When we got back home and I had time to sit and look through all the pictures,
it reminded me of how great my God is! So I want to leave you with one more
picture and a verse that these pictures brought to my mind......

" God that made the world and all things therein,
seeing that He is Lord of Heaven and earth,
                dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Neither is worshiped  with men's hands,
as though He needed any thing, seeing
He giveth to all life, and breath, and ALL things"

                                                            Acts 17:24

A Quick Trip to Maine... Post #1

For years we had been talking about taking a family trip to Maine....

One year we actually packed for Maine, but when we got to the end of the
driveway we flipped a coin & it landed tails, so we went to  North Carolina
instead! Crazy, I know. But that's how we roll...😄

This year we decided, again rather last minute, to make the trip. Josiah was
getting ready to head off to college, so we thought it would be a great
opportunity to spend time together before he left.

We were also blessed with the gift of a fifth-wheel trailer for our ministry,
so we wanted to try it out before the long haul to NM coming up in October.

That's enough story.....now for the pictures!!!

We went to the LL Bean store!

We hiked this really neat trail....yes, it's a trail! Notice the orange flag
hanging from the tree in the right corner? It was amazing!

Sometimes there weren't any orange flags....

We came out here thinking it looked like a great place for a moose!

Then we decided it was probably better NOT to see a moose when you are hiking!

And finally we came out into a field of goldenrod!! Not a poppy field like on the
Wizard of Oz, but tall goldenrod!!

We went to Baxter State Park and actually saw a moose....from the truck!

We rented canoes for $1/ hour!!

Unfortunately, we could not get in to the park because our truck was too wide!
Something they failed to put on their website! We hiked a little around one lake
and rented canoes, but we could not go in to where we wanted to hike! The best
part though was seeing the moose....on the way INTO the park!! The ranger said
we did better than 95% of people who go there expecting to see a moose!

See the little red tree back there?
One of the many lakes in Baxter State Park

Acadia National Park is AMAZING! We hope to one day go back and have more time there!

It's Been A Long Time.....

So much has happened since Mother's Day! Not having internet at home
does not help!

We celebrated Erin's birthday on the 23rd. We surprised her with a kayak!

We celebrated our 31st anniversary! Still haven't gone anywhere to officially
celebrate! Life just seems too busy!

Erin & I picked strawberries before the end of the season!
Just some for eating, making strawberry shortcake & 2 strawberry pies! And
some for the freezer too!

The beginning of June, Erin & I went to Rhode Island for a night! She has been
so gracious this year in taking each member of the family on a mini vacation!
We toured 5 mansions on the island of Newport....
Rosecliff
The Elms
Side view of The Breakers
The back yard of The Breakers

We also enjoyed the harbor.....it was a beautiful, but windy & chilly day!

We also got to spend some time by the ocean! No beach area (you had to pay)
but we had a great time on the rocks!

I was so thankful to be able to spend time together & do a little sightseeing!!

Terry & I took a short trip to New York to help a church with a small project.
And at the end of June we all went to camp! Terry, Erin & I were counselors &
Josiah went for his final time as a camper!

Speaking of Josiah, did I mention he is FINISHED school!!! I AM FINISHED
homeschooling......done.......forever. Not sure how I feel about it either. 22 years
is a long time to be doing something and then stop!! I always liked going back to
routine after a busy summer schedule......won't have that anymore! Although, I
would like to continue learning sign language & learn Spanish. So maybe I'll start
schooling myself! 😄
Any way, he did a great job! He earned a diploma from Erie County
Homeschoolers. And though he had no ceremony or party, I am still very proud
of him!

Well, that gets you caught up a little on what's been going on in my life! I hope
to soon have internet at home, but that will not come without a move....

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

For those of you who do not know, my mom passed away in October.
This will be my first Mother's Day without her.....

Light....

So I took a bunch of pictures over time of light and thought I'd turn them into a post....

This one I took almost 20 years ago! The quality is poor because it is a scanned picture.
One of the girls took this one at Grandma's. Again, it's scanned, so not very clear.
These I took last fall, just after moving in....

These were taken early one January morning, after one of the few snowfalls we received....

And last of all, my favorites....
One morning the sun was shining through Erin's window across her door....
And this was the view from the bottom of the stairs....

The main reason I wanted to post though was because of the verses about light
that these pictures brought to my mind.....

Psalm 119:130- " The entrance of thy Words giveth light...."
                              AND
I John 1:5- "... God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all."

What verses do you think of ? I'd love to hear them!
And which picture is your favorite?

Lately....in pictures

Back in January we visited Texas. I love that place! Not just because
family is there, but I love to be warm, I love the sun, and I do not mind
the desert!

We went hiking at Hueco Tanks outside of El Paso. We had a beautiful
day!

A little taste of slot canyons!

Can you see the bobcat in the center? We almost headed right for him!
How cute is a boy and his puppy?

Love this little guy to pieces!
Then back home we had calves being born on the farm! And some snow too....

There's so much more I'd like to post, but that will have to wait!

Have a blessed day!
